"Telling It Like It Is" DVD Resource (24.5 min.) with Resource Guide - "Tellling It Like It Is" was produced and created to support and validate the experiences of Aboriginal youth growing up in a native and non-native society. The stories that you will hear in this video document Aboriginal youth navigating tough ssues and sharing their sccesses with others all set to a HIP, Rap Beat! These youth discuss important issues like balancing their Aboriginal culture in non-aboriginal settings such as school. The young people talk from the heart about struggles with suicide, drugs and slcohol, family difficulties, school, and how they have over come the challenges they have faced. In this video youth also create a rap beat that rhymes their experience outside of the box of racial stereotypes, in a word - they, "Tell It Like It Is"!

Top 11 Ways to Thrive with Change:
- Reach out and connect - it is better to be open and share difficulties. Hugs are great - ask for one!
- Keep active - being physically active helps you to integrate your body, mind, spirit, and emotions.
- Look for the opportunities - you might be able to make new friends, learn a new skill or build a closer relationship.
- Celebrate your small steps of flexibility - even small steps add up. You might notice your are thinking differently or changing a stuck routine.
- Help someone else - often supporting someone else or volunteering is a great way to contribute and share with others and feel great about yourself.
- Do something familiar - when things are crazy with change do something that is really familiar and grounding for you This could be as simple as making your favorite cup of tea or watching your favorite movie or visiting your favorite park.
- Take care of your body - eat better nutruition and give yourself time to relax and sleep. No one else will give you all the care you need. You'll have to make yourself a priority.
- Read a new book or do word, number or regular puzzles. Remember how fun they are and they will take your mind off difficulties!
- LAUGH! Rent your favorite comedy. Laugh out loud and often and really hard! Laughter really is the best medicine.
- Have a support team - doctors, counsellors, and other professionals can all be a part of your support team. Everyone needs a crew of supportive people when life is changing dramatically.
- Be creative and playful - play with small toys like jacks, spinning tops, dominoes or play dough. Anything that helps you play. Colour and paint even if it is small and brief. The more playful creativity you have the more healing, flexibility, and ability to solve problems you will have.
